This well written illustrated history of the Parish covers the period from 1850 to 2000.

First published in 2005 in a hardback edition, it was greeted with enthusiasm and was a complete sell out.  Copies were sold to America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Now available as a paperback, the book comes with a free CD on which there are PDF files of the original edition with extra pages in colour, and additional material (as is usual after a book like this is published).

The high standard of the contents and production was recognised by the Barnstaple and District Civic Society and they awarded the book the Annual Conservation Award's 2005 Heritage Shield

Books of this genre usually include numerous evocative photographs but fail to be a good read. This book is both well illustrated and a good read - Alison Parker (author and a guest at the Clinton Arms in 2005)
